Olympic Torch in Kashgar Xinjiang
On June 18th the Beijing Olympic Torch Relay was in Kashgar, one of the major town's of Xinjiang province in western China.
The torch relay started at the Id Kah Mosque, the largest mosque in China, in the centre of Kashgar and finished at People's Square (pictured).
Silk Road
The ancient oasis city located on the Silk Road now has a population of just over 200,000 inhabitants, with an ethnic mix of Uyghurs, Tajiks, Kyrgyz, Uzbeks and Han Chinese.
