Beijing Fire Engines
Beijing is a city susceptible to fire. The often dry climate and strong winds can easily fan fires over the flat expanses of the city.
Already in July, Peking University gymnasium the Olympic venue for table tennis caught fire and seventeen fire engines were needed to extinguish the blaze.
According to the Xinhua News Agency, Beijing plans to set up 26 temporary fire stations near Olympic stadiums and gymnasiums as part of its fire safety plan for the 2008 Games.
