Xinjiang Museum
Xinjiang Museum is a world-class museum of striking, modern architecture inspired by Uyghur culture and with a collection of over 50,000 items. These include 381 nationally ranked cultural relics.
The museum was founded in 1959 and rebuilt and refurbished in its present form in 2005.

Exhibits
Perhaps the most memorable displays are those of the ancient mummies of Xinjiang. These are human remains naturally preserved for thousands of years, in some cases, by the naturally dry desert environment of Xinjiang. Most are from the nearby Astana Graves.
Also from the Astana Graves are tomb wall paintings.
