This season's offerings represent the highest ever pre-sale estimates for the Modern and Contemporary Art category, with a total low estimate surpassing HK$ 1.1 billion in value. This season also marks the highest pre-sale estimate for any evening sale series at Christie’s Asia, as well as one of the strongest day sales by value in recent years.
Leading the evening sales are a series of spectacular masterpieces by Sanyu, Zao Wou-Ki and Chu Teh-Chun, as well as career defining works by Zhang Xiaogang, Andy Warhol, Yoshitomo Nara and Yayoi Kusama.
Christie's is also delighted to present works by contemporary artists Matthew Wong, Christina Quarles and Amoako Boafo, as well as an exceptional selection of Southeast Asian artworks. A highlight of the day sales is the offering of The Jean-Marc Lefèvre Collection of Vietnamese art on 3 December.
Lovingly assembled over a span of 24 years, the group of 15 paintings span the timeline of modern Vietnamese painting from 1909-1983.
This season’s extraordinary line up of masterpieces is a testament to the new synergy between Christie’s global specialist teams, which bring an unparalleled level of international expertise to the Hong Kong sales.
